The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) is an independent intergovernmental Organisation with its seat in the Villa Aldobrandini in Rome. Its purpose is to study needs and methods for modernising, harmonising and co-ordinating private and in particular commercial law as between States and groups of States and to formulate uniform law instruments, principles and rules to achieve those objectives.

The IBA Arbitration Committee focuses on laws, practice and procedures relating to the arbitration of transnational disputes. Through its conferences, publications and projects, the Committee seeks to share information about international arbitration, promote its use and improve its effectiveness.

PCA is an intergovernmental organization providing a variety of dispute resolution services to the international community.

The HCCH, the leading organisation in the area of private international law, develops and services multilateral legal instruments dealing with issues including jurisdiction of the courts, applicable law, and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in a wide range of areas, from commercial law and banking law to international civil procedure and from child protection to matters of marriage and personal status.

The Conventions have an influence upon legal systems - even when they are not ratified - in both Member and non-Member States. They also form a source of inspiration for efforts to unify private international law at the regional level.

The Arbitration Rules are those of 2012, as amended in 2017. They are effective as of 1 March 2017. The Mediation Rules, in force from 2014, reflect modern practice and set clear parameters for the conduct of proceedings.
